I give permission for my child/ward to join the Barbados Cadet Corps and to participate in both Unit and Central Corps Training. I understand that any uniform issued to my child remains the property of the Barbados Cadet Corps and I will take all reasonable care of the uniform and ensure that it is returned when my child/ward ceases to be a cadet.
(Under section 220 of the Defence Act CAP. 159, Any parent or guardian, having given consent for his child or ward to be enrolled as a cadet, and having accepted liability for any uniform and equipment issued at any time to the child or ward, is liable for such uniform and equipment, and section 205 applies to the parent or guardian as if he were an officer or soldier of the Reserve.
Section 205 states inter alia, Where any person deliberately makes away with, pawns, or wrongfully destroys or damages, or negligently loses anything issued to him as an officer or soldier of the Reserve, or wrongfully refuses or neglects to deliver up on demand anything issued to him as an officer or soldier … is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of $1,000 or to imprisonment for 12 months, or both.)
By joining the in the Barbados Cadet Corps, you consent to your child/ward being involved in video recording, audio recording and/or photography and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on web sites, or for any other purpose(s) that the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), its vendors, partners, affiliates and/or representatives deems fit to use. You release BDF and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, or publication of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or or sound recordings.
