NOTICE TO APPLICANT

Candidates for sixth form admission are required to have a MINIMUM of FIVE (5) CXC General subjects or equivalent, including English Language (English A), taken at one sitting.Subjects taken in fourth form may be considered as the same sitting as those taken in fifth form.

Promotion to Upper 6 is dependent on students successfully completing the compulsory subjects and at least two (2) core subjects.

Acceptance to Sixth Form is conditional on students adhering to the school's policy, rules and regulations.

School Choice

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR ALEXANDRA SCHOOL

1. Students will be required to choose three (3) subjects (one from each group).

2. Compulsory subjects are Communication Studies (Year 1), Caribbean Studies (Year 2)

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR THE ALLEYNE SCHOOL

Students are required to do Entrepreneurship & Communication Studies (Year 1) AND Entrepreneurship & Caribbean Studies (Year 2) as compulsory subjects.

Students are to choose two (2) additional subjects, ONE from each BAND

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR CHRIST CHURCH FOUNDATION

Students are required to do Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies as compulsory subjects.

Students are to choose THREE (3) additional subjects, ONE from each BAND

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR COMBERMERE

The following information should be carefully read as you prepare yourself for sixth form study.

(1) All students entering sixth form will be pursuing the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).  GCSE Advanced Level examinations will only be taken in subjects not offered by CAPE.

(2) The recommended minimum grade for the study of a particular subject in sixth form is a CXC General Grade 1 or a GCSE Ordinary Level Grade A or B.  CXC General Grade II passes may be accepted subject to the profiles.

(3) Qualification in CXC English B or GCSE Ordinary Level English Literature is required for the study of English in sixth form.

(4) Qualification in Mathematics (CXC Grade 1 or II or GCSE Ordinary Level Grade A, B or ) is a prerequisite for the study of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Management of Business in sixth form.

(5) Qualification in Principles of Accounts (CXC Grade 1 or II or GCSE Ordinary Level Grade A, B or C) is required for the study of Management of Business in sixth form.

(6) Qualification in Chemistry (CXC Grade I or II or GCSE Ordinary Level Grade A, B or C) is a prerequisite for the study of Biology in sixth form. (A lot of chemistry in the Biology)

(7) For the CAPE BMED (Building and Mechanical Engineering Drawing)  a Grade 1 or 2 in Technical Drawing – Mechanical Engineering option and a Grade 1 or 2 in Mathematics are prerequisites.

(8)  For Environmental Science, a Grade 1 or 2 in Geography or Biology is a prerequisite.

(9) For Economics, a Grade 1 in Mathematics is a prerequisite

(10)  For Law, a Grade 1 in English Literature or History is a prerequisite.

(11)  For Green Engineering, qualification in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Industrial Technology are prerequisites.

(12) For Animation and Game Design a Grade 1 or 2 in Art, Information Technology, English Literature/Theatre Arts is a  prerequisite.

(13) For Sociology, Grade 1 or 2 in History/Social Studies

(14) For Pure Mathematics a prerequisite in Additional Mathematics is a great advantage.  The gap between General Level Mathematics and Pure Mathematics is great.  Preference will be given to persons who did Additional  Mathematics even if he/she did not get a grade 1 or. 2.

Students are to choose THREE (3) subjects out of the FOUR (4) available BANDS.

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR ELLERSLIE SCHOOL

Students are required to do Entreprenuership (Year 1 & 2), Communication Studies (Year 1) and Caribbean Studies (Year 2) as compulsory subjects.

Students are to choose TWO (2) additional subjects, ONE from each BAND

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR HARRISON COLLEGE

Students are required to do Communication Studies in year one and Caribbean Studies in year two as compulsory core subjects

Students are to choose their THREE (3) subjects, each option is REQUIRED to be from a DIFFERENT BAND

For subjects that appear in more than one BAND, that subject may be chosen from any BAND in which it appears

In the event that you are unsuccessful at securing one of the above options, students are allowed to make a fourth "backup option". This BACKUP CHOICE is the only option which may select a subject from a previously chosen BAND. 

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR QUEENS COLLEGE

Students are to choose THREE (3) subjects out of the FOUR (4) available BANDS in the order of preference.

You may only select ONE (1) subject from ANY BAND.

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR SPRINGER MEMORIAL

Students are required to do Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies as compulsory subjects.

Students are to choose THREE (3) additional subjects, ONE from each BAND

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR ST.LEONARD'S BOYS' SECONDARY SCHOOL

Students may choose to complete:

1. Three (3) CAPE subjects

OR

2. Two (2) subjects from the CAPE Section and one (1) subject from the C.V.Q Section.

Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies are compulsory units and one(1) must be done each year.

PREREQUISITE(S)

GMED & Mechanical Engineering - Technical Drawing (Mechanical Engineering Option)

Management of Business - Principles of Business and pass in Principles of Accounts

Physical Education - (CSEC) Physical Education & Sport or Integrated Science or Biology or Human & Social Biology or Food & Nutrition 

Entrepreneurship - Principles of Business, Principles of Accounts, Mathematics

Tourism - Social Studies, Geography or any General Studies subject

Food & Nutrition - CSEC Food & Nutrition and Health 

Design & Technology - Industrial Technology 

PREREQUISITE(S)

Food Preparation & Cookery - Level 1

Muscial Performance - Written test and Audition; CSEC Music would be an asset

SUBJECT OPTIONS FOR THE LODGE SCHOOL

1. Students must pick three subjects only and can only pick one subject per band.

2. Students will also be required to take the compulsory subjects Caribbean Studeis in LOWER 6th and Communication Studies in UPPER 6th.

3. ALL students will be required to play an active role in The Lodge School's rich extra-curricular programme.

The St. Michael School offered the following groups of subjects. You MUST choose one subject from each group in your choice of three subjects.

In addition, all students must take Communication Studies (Lower Six) and Caribbean Studies (Upper Six).
